GDPR – After lockdown, controls – and sanctions – are back on track for national enforcement authorities in Europe.

In Belgium on Tuesday 14 July, the Data Protection Authority (DPA) imposed a 600,000€ sanction on Google Belgium SA. The Belgian subsidiary of Google LLC (which had been sanctioned in 2019 by the CNIL) had refused to deregister old articles that damaged the reputation of an Internet user. The Belgian authority is thus imposing one of its biggest sanctions to date.
